Future Entrepreneurs and Leaders in Innovation and Technology (FUEL-IT) is a two-year project designed and implemented by Leaders Organization and funded by Global Affairs Canada.
FUEL-IT aims to support young women and men between the ages of 22-35 to establish and grow sustainable market-driven businesses through technology and innovation. The project is designed to enable 30 start-up teams to develop their business ideas by offering them a range of services including trainings, workshops, mentoring and coaching, inspirational talks, business development advice and consulting. These services will empower entrepreneurs to effectively pitch their ideas to investors and have a better chance at accessing seed capital funds.
FUEL-IT supports Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy given its focus on fostering growth that works for everyone and the empowerment of women. The project also takes into account the three pillars of sustainability; economic, social and environmental. It strives to achieve a number of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, specifically goal number 5 (Gender Equality), number 8 (Economic Growth), and number 13 (Climate Action).
The project FUEL-IT will reflect the challenges to reducing gender equality barriers in entrepreneurship and is designed to economically empower youth, particularly women, by increasing their economic agency and access to business opportunities. A main aim of the project is to strengthen the pipeline from ideation to realization and attract more women into entrepreneurial roles.
